Battle Format

Pixelmon World Cup Battle Format: (Subject to change depending on PWC Season)

How Battle Format Works

We will now be using the Smogon Tier system for our battling formats as it is the most well known and used format system within the Competitive Pokémon Realm. We Will also be including some additional bans/allowances depending on the current bug states of the Pixelmon Mod.

Missing Pixelmon Moves

In case of a Pokémon’s species file not being completely updated in Pixelmon yet, the Pokemon may be used if:

  1. Moves are Functional in Pixelmon and Valid for a Pokémon to know in the Gen 9 NatDex
  2. The Sprite mode is enabled

National Dex SV Smogon Tier

We will be generally following the National Dex (NatDex) tier within the Smogon system. This tier can be seen here which can help with some battle strategies. With that being said, please note that it will not be strictly just NatDex because of the way Pixelmon works. Our Conclusive list can be found below.

Stall Match Avoidance

In an effort to avoid stall matches/moves we have made the decision to nullify PP Up/PP Max on recovery moves. This is in the best interest of all participants and volunteers in order to respect everyone’s time. Stall matches take much more time than any other set, and caused match length issues in last year’s tournament.

What does this mean? If you use a PP Max on any recovery move, its PP amount will not change above its base PP count. Note that this ONLY affects recovery moves so you do not have to worry about any other moves being affected.
